Always Be You!

Welcome to this edition of The Metro Message.....I hope you all had a wonderful weekend filled with a lot of fun and relaxation. Many of us try so very hard to improve ourselves and change the person we are for the better. We learn more to become smarter and more educated. We exercise to become more fit and energetic. We talk a certain way to sound more professional or to stand out. We dress the part to look great and appear more successful. We buy the things we think we want to give us joy and happiness. We surround ourselves by people we want to impress or inspire. Now, all of these things can be good to a certain degree. They can be healthy and wise things to do. This is just a reminder to remember to always be you.

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

Always Be...

Always, Be understanding to your enemies.
Be loyal to your friends.
Be strong enough to face the world each day.
Be weak enough to know you cannot do everything alone.
Always, Be generous to those who need your help. Be frugal with that you need yourself.
Be wise enough to know that you do not know everything.
Be smart enough to continue learning.
Always, Be willing to share your joys.
Be willing to share the sorrows of others.
Be a leader when you see a path others have missed.Be a follower when you are shrouded by the mists of uncertainty.
Always, Be first to congratulate an opponent who succeeds.
Be last to criticize a colleague who fails.
Be sure where your next step will fall, so that you will not tumble.
Be sure of your final destination, by setting your goals along the way.
Above all,

RE/MAX Franchise Honored for Commitment to Military Families

Denver, CO (Vocus) For the fourth year in a row, in recognition of its commitment to military families, RE/MAX has been named a Top Ten Military Spouse Friendly Employer by Military Spouse magazine. This year's Top Ten was selected from a pool of more than 2,500 large companies, and RE/MAX, once again, is the only real estate company to make the list.

"Military spouses make excellent, dedicated employees," says Dave Liniger, RE/MAX Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board. "They are sacrificing for our country, and RE/MAX hopes to make the lives of military families a bit easier at a most difficult time.

"The innovative military employment program, Operation RE/MAX, has been helping military spouses and former military personnel find jobs in real estate for the past four years. Created in cooperation with the Department of Defense, the program matches members of the military community with volunteer RE/MAX brokers, who have made a commitment to coach, train and mentor military personnel.

As a result of the success of Operation RE/MAX, the company was honored with the Office of the Secretary of Defense Exceptional Public Service Award in 2007. The prestigious award is one of the highest given to civilians, and was presented to Gail Liniger, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of the Board, in a special Pentagon ceremony.

Operation RE/MAX has earned the cooperation of over 500 military installations and enlisted the support of more than 700 individual RE/MAX offices. Most importantly, it has placed more than 1,100 military spouses in jobs all over the world.

"Military spouses have a desire to perform well, a dedication to get the job done, and they honor their commitments," says Liniger. "In the real estate profession, military spouses have a built-in clientele because they have a personal relationship with many families who are moving regularly and trust them.

"RE/MAX is joined on the Top Ten list by other high-profile organizations like USAA, Home Depot, T-Mobile and Kelly Services. To make the list, companies were required to produce at least $1 billion in annual revenue, and have specific military employment programs in place.

The annual list is a "who's who" of large corporations that were evaluated on their efforts to recruit military spouses, which make up a talent pool of more than 1.1 million; 93 percent are women. The Top Ten list is featured in Military Spouse magazine's October 2010 issue.

Be Safe!

I know you are extremely busy but PLEASE read the article I'm sharing with you today. This week is Realtor Safety Week, an opportunity for me to remind you to keep safe in your business. We are amidst challenging economic times the result of which is a higher than usual crime rate. Now, more than ever, you must be involved in formulating and executing a safety plan. As real estate agents you deal in a business of working with strangers and touring neighborhoods and homes with which you are alien. What kind of precautions are you taking to make sure you remain safe in your business? Please, please, please read the important safety article below. As well, you can visit Realtor.org where their Field Guide to Realtor Safety will share tips on staying safe in open houses, in your car, and all around your business.
Please stay safe. You are important to me, this business, and your family.

Six Tips For Real Estate Safety
Whether young or old, male or female, every day you put yourself at risk just doing your job. This article isn't meant to frighten but rather to inform. Accidents happen, it is a fact of life. And just as often, things much more dangerous can happen. Here are a few tips to keep you safe, aware and reduce your risk of becoming a victim.

1. Cell phone - The very bread and butter of your real estate business. A cell phone can also be you greatest asset when it comes to an emergency. Having your cell programmed with a few emergency numbers in your speed dial could very well save your life. Which numbers should be in your speed dial? 911 of course - you'd think that would be a no brainer but very few people think to include it in their cell phone. Your office number so if there is a problem you can speak with a live person to get help.
Your emergency contact - police/rescue/EMT's often look for an emergency contact in a persons phone, but having it listed as "Joe" or "Sally" won't tell them anything... Even if it means adding a duplicate entry have an contact in your phone labeled Emergency Contact then list the name, relationship, home, office and mobile phone numbers and an address.

2. Keep your cell phone on your person. It won't do any you good if you fall in the bathroom in the house you're holding open, if the phone is tucked safely into a kitchen cabinet or in your car. Keep it close at hand, on your belt, in a pocket or on a lanyard around your neck.

3. Trust your gut instincts. If you don't feel comfortable escorting a unknown person into the basement of a vacant home. Don't do it. Let him go by himself, simply saying feel free to tour the home, I'll answer questions when you're done - then take a stroll outside - talk to a neighbor, call your office or spouse- let someone know your discomfort and make sure someone knows where your are.

4. Use the buddy system. If you are meeting someone for the first time and you're uncomfortable or have a bad feeling either skip the meeting all together or take someone with you, a friend from the office, your spouse, etc.

5. Don't look like a victim. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Pay attention to what is going on around you. Look people in the eye when you meet them. Carry your keys threaded through your fingers (like brass knuckles). Stand up straight, don't hunch down, or look at the ground when around strangers. Look people in the eye, if you are looking at a person in stead of the ground, it is much more likely that you could give a full description of that person to the police.

6. Use common sense. Stay out of questionable neighborhoods after dark. Keep your gas tank filled. Keep jewelry to a minimum. Don't flash wads of cash around. If you use an MP3 player, make sure the volume is set so you can hear someone coming up behind you. Let someone know where you're going and when you are expected back. Keep your risk taking to investment, don't risk your safety.

Just a few of the ways to keep yourself safe on the job and off. Every year real estate agents fall victim to foul play at the hands of someone looking at houses. Don't become a statistic.

Attitude!!!

Welcome to this edition of The Metro Message.....I hope each and every one of you had the best weekend of the year. This week as we look forward to all the wonderful opportunities we have in front of us, let us always remember that we determine the degree of success we have by our attitude. The one and only thing we have total control over is the attitude we bring to all the endeavors we face. We can be positive and look for all the good, or we can be negative and take everything as being bad. Let us open our minds and hearts this week and let us have a wonderful attitude regardless of what may come our way. We can handle anything that is handed to us and we will do it with a smile and a determination to find positive solutions to any issues. It is all about our ATTITUDE.

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

Attitude
The Longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one thing we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% of what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our ATTITUDES.

WORDS TO LIVE BY...

"Your mental attitude is something you can control outright and you must use self-discipline until you create a Positive Mental Attitude -- your mental attitude attracts to you everything that makes you what you are." Napolean Hill

"You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you." Brian Tracy

"Don't go around saying the world owes you a living; the world owes you nothing; it was here first." Mark Twain

Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character." Albert Einstein
"Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions." Harold S. Geneen

LET'S MAKE THIS THE BEST WEEK OF THE YEAR!!!

The Metro Message

Welcome to this edition of The Metro Message.....I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend filled with fun and relaxation. As you enjoyed the cookouts or holiday shopping, remember that you have worked hard this year and you deserve to enjoy yourself, your family, and your friends. We must always remember we work to live not live to work. You must recharge those batteries and get your head together so you can finish the rest of the year strong. The work will never end. There will always be more to do, but don't ever forget what you have already accomplished and why and for who.

ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER...

Somebody said it couldn't be done,But he with a chuckle repliedThat "maybe it couldn't," but he would be oneWho wouldn't say so till he'd tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grinOn his face. If he worried he hid it.He started to sing and he tackled the thing,That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;At least no one has ever done it";But he took off his coat and he took of his hat,And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, Without any doubting or quiddit,He started to sing and he tackled the thingThat couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,There are thousands to prophesy failure; There are thousands to point out to you, one by one,The dangers that wait to assail you.But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,Just take off your coat and go to it;Just start to sing as you tackle the thingThat "cannot be done," and you'll do it.
