Improve Your Finances: Make 2014 Your Best Year

Everyone wants more money, yet sometimes it is the budgeting and saving money where the challenge lies. There are a lot of people out there who are happy to offer their tips and solutions for how you should be saving your money, but if you are like me, some of their tips are not very realistic.

One of the best tips I’ve received in the past, and the one I’ve applied in my life, is to pay yourself first. Set up an automated deposit into a savings account and don’t touch the money. It is amazing how quickly the money adds up.

Live below your means, but within your needs. Consider the areas you are overspending in. Do you really need to buy a latte 5 days a week? What if you cut it down to just 2 times a week? Cutting down on little things can have a huge effect on your budget.

Another great idea is to sale some of the items you don’t want or need. With eBay, Craigslist and KSL, you have options on making some extra cash. If you don’t have anything you want to sale, getting another job for a short time might be something worth checking out.

What are some ways you’ve earned extra money? What are some tips you use to save money? Share your thoughts and ideas…we love to hear from you.
